Each bag weighs roughly 40 lbs (weight varies a little with moisture content).
Our compost starts as food scraps collected right here in Charlotte and ends as rich, living soil — closing the loop one bag at a time. Every bag is fully finished, screened, and ready to use, with a loose, crumbly texture that's easy to spread and gentle on young roots.
Work it into your garden and it goes to work fast: improving drainage in heavy clay, helping sandy soil hold onto water, and feeding your plants with slow-release nutrients and beneficial microbes. The result is better aeration, healthier roots, and soil that keeps getting better season after season.
Whether you're prepping a new bed, top-dressing the lawn, filling raised beds, or giving tired containers a boost, this is the same compost we're proud to make from our neighbors' food scraps — now bagged and ready for yours.
Grown from Crown Town scraps. Made for Crown Town gardens.
How to use
Amend before planting: Mix 2–3 inches into the top 6–8 inches of soil.
Top-dress lawns and beds: Spread a thin ½–1 inch layer over the surface.
Raised beds & containers: Blend with existing soil, roughly 1 part compost to 3 parts soil.
Feed established plants: Work a handful into the soil around the base and water in.
